Developed in collaboration with Intel Corporation, the new standards-based M2M Smart Services Developer Kit is a powerful development and deployment solution providing straightforward ‘plug & play’ capability. In addition to aiding rapid application deployment, the kit enables designers to develop and test an application’s connectivity and performance. It is designed to meet customer requirements for accelerated M2M connected-computing launch schedules of smart services utilizing cloud-based computing, such as kiosk terminals and digital signage displays. The Kontron M2M Smart Services Developer Kit is 802.11a/b/g/n (WLAN) and 802.15.4 (WPAN) capable. This allows rapid development of wireless connectivity solutions such as 6LoPAN, Wireless HART, ZigBee and others using a unique 802.15.4 MAC layer interface. 3G (WWAN) is either pre-installed or easily enabled by dropping in a pre-certified PCI Express 3G/4G module for increased broadband connectivity flexibility. Other pre-certified 3G/4G modules and drivers may be added to the Kontron M2M System for additional connectivity development. Kontron’s modular architectural approach provides multiple benefits to customers such as OEMs, smart service developers and independent software vendors (ISVs). These include a reduction in - development cost, risk and time-to-market, all in an optimal, proven production-ready COTS small factor platform. Mounting hardware is included for ease of deployment. The M2M solution and kit packaging is easily customized to include network operator, OEM and ISV brands.

This OEM solution already boasts thousands of successful applications in a multitude of industries, which can now be enhanced with 3G/4G connectivity for wireless broadband communication. Configured for the eHealth market, the eHealth Kiosk offers a wide range of value-added options that enable cost savings and improve the efficiency of smart card based eHealth kiosk applications. Kontron offers the eHealth Kiosk preconfigured with the eGK (German electronic health smart card) application and equipped with value-added services to suit individual customer needs. Thanks to its robust design and proven suitability to other eKiosk application areas such as health insurance companies' disease management programmes, the eHealth Kiosk it is also suitable for use in public access areas such as hospitals, rehabilitation centres and pharmacies. Vandal proof outdoor versions are also available. The impressive number of tried and tested eKiosk variations is evident with over 60,000 indoor and outdoor installations at established bank terminals, airport check-ins and motorway toll gates.
