Reverse Vending at Smaller Stores
No Empty Promise
UNO accepts one way and refillable containers (glass, PET and cans) with valid deposit refund values. After returning their containers, the machine prints out a receipt showing the total refund amount. The refund value can then be redeemed at the checkout counter for cash or goods.
Several market studies in Europe have shown that up to 20% of consumers who currently return empties in large grocery stores would prefer to return their empties at smaller stores if these stores offered a reverse vending machine. Since consumers who return empties spend up to 52% more when shopping, it is clear that offering this service can be very attractive for smaller stores.
Taking up less than 0.5 square meters of floor space, UNO can be conveniently placed just about anywhere in the store. The machine stores empty containers in two separate accumulation bins inside the RVM, with a total storage capacity of 500 empty containers. Emptying the containers is easy via the machine’s removable bins, and all key components can be easily taken out and cleaned with water.
