Szzt has launched the first-ever postal kiosk for the Asian marketplace. The system uses a 17” touch screen multimedia monitor, a built-in electronic scale and a dual-door, anti-theft system to post parcels. The interface has been configured for the simplest possible self-service operation – the user simply follows on-screen instructions that have been designed to be as easy as those found on standard ATMs. The user enters the destination address for their parcel and the parcel door then opens automatically to allow them to put the parcel on the scale. The kiosk then weighs the parcel and automatically displays the required postage.
Once the freight charge has been paid by either cash or credit card, the terminal then prints an individual barcode to be attached to the parcel. Once the customer has confirmed delivery instructions, the security door shuts and the parcel is automatically delivered to the deposit box. The integrated receipt printer provides evidence of payment and postage, and when the deposit box is full, the kiosk screen will warn other users not to deposit any more post.
