Preview: photokina 2010
Image Conscious
At the last photokina two years ago, a huge number of photokiosk ranges were presented, by companies including Fujifilm, Kodak, HP, Mitsubishi, Photo-Me amongst many others. The past two years have seen a number of trials and roll-outs in retail, such as by Tesco in the UK, DM-Drogerie Markt in Germany and Carnival Cruise in the US.
Customisable photobooks have already proved to be a significant contributor to industry revenues, and the photokiosk has an important role to play in this. Predictions, from Futuresource, estimate that more than 23 million photobooks will be shipped in 2012, so it’s a safe bet that the photokiosk will be a prominent sight again at photokina.
As the leading international trade fair for the sector, photokina puts the image in the spotlight and presents the interdisciplinary networking of different products and technologies that shape the dynamism and growth of this market. At photokina 2008, a total of 169,119 international trade visitors and professional users from 161 countries came to find out more about the future technologies and new business strategies of the photography and imaging sector.
With the headings “Meet the Professionals” and “Meet the Communities at photokina” for this year, the event will be a meeting point for imaging professional and for photography and Web 2.0 fans. Professionals, hardware suppliers, software developers, creative users, specialized dealers and training centres will come together in a programme to discuss the current and future developments of the new technology on show.
