Custom, the high-tech printing solutions provider, has announced that it will be supplying the printing element for JCDecaux’s Cyclocity project, a unique system for the hiring of bicycles through self-service kiosks. The system allows those who use public transport (bus, underground, etc.) to hire bicycles using contactless tickets equipped with RFID technology, dispensed by self-service kiosks. These special tickets release an anti-theft device, placing the bicycle at the disposal of the customer. The tickets will be printed using
Custom’s KPM300H high-speed, high quality ticket printer, equipped with a barcode scanner and an RFID reader/writer supporting the ‘mifare’ and ‘icode’ standards.
Custom is supplying the KPM300H for the Cyclocity service in all main French cities, including, but not limited to, Paris and Marseilles. Its cooperation with JCDecaux is still ongoing, with a view to extending the project to a large number of European, and eventually non-European, cities.
