The intelligent smartONE self-checkout system from AWEK improves the efficiency of checkout areas. The standardly integrated fingerprint scanner enables a biometric payment function which is just as reliable as using a credit card or a PIN code. Customers can scan their purchases themselves using the smartONE’s barcode scanner and pay conveniently with their fingerprint or an EC bank card. The scanned products are shown on the touch screen with their prices and quantities.
 
The user interface is very straightforward and intuitive to use. Customised couponing is available, and the system also can be connected with a self-checkout weigh scale. The dialogue-oriented AWEK concept of ‘networked stores’ effi ciently links the POS periphery with the central merchandise management system. Empties return machines, for example, can also be easily integrated in the data transfer. The smartONE terminal is RFID-enabled and winner of the “iF product design award 2007.”
