Autumn 2012

Access IS

Access IS, a global market leader for 2D barcode scanning technology in the airport sector, has turned its attention to the kiosk market. The company scooped the 2012 Railway Industry Innovation Award for a mobile phone kiosk ticketing solution deisnged in collaboration with Masabi and Atos. Chiltern Railways' mTicketing application allows commuters to securely purchase and display rail tickets on mobile phone handsets, which are then displayed in the app as a barcode or readable ticket and can be checked visually, with handheld scanners, or at station gates.

Airport Check-in

Italy's Bologna Airport has become the first in Europe to introduce new 'full auto check in' kiosks, allowing passengers to reserve their seats on board and check their luggage in a single operation. Siemens has selected the Marconi Airport as the pilot facility for the activation of the new 'Sicheck Full Auto Check In' units. These automatic kiosks can used with all airlines, for passengers to carry out their pre boarding procedures quickly and autonomously.
