Revving Up
Car Hire Kiosk Printers
Paris has just unveiled the French Autolib project, which allows the general public to hire electric cars from self-service kiosks around the city.
Just launched, 66 BlueCars are operating from 33 open stations, with plans for many more by the end of next year.
Customers hire their electric vehicle 24/7 without the need for an operator. KIOSK LONDON EXPO 2011 exhibitor Custom Engineering has provided the integral printers for the car hire kiosks, chosen for their speed, reliability and the quality of printing, essential for unmanned applications.
This follows the success of the printers they provided for the Velib bike rental kiosks which launched in France and are now in use across the globe.
The Autolib cars come equippe with an RFID antenna for remote ticket reading and Ethernet interface for remote control via web. The cars are 100% electric, have 4 seats and have been manufactured in Turin, Ialy.
They are equipped with all amenities including radio, on-board computer with GPS, and with an autonomy of 250 km for an average recharging time of 4 hours. They can even be returned in any location, and are constantly being monitored.
