Maximum Grip is essential when feeding chip cards or parking tickets into kiosks. Slipping may damage the ticket or cause errors when reading the magnetic strip. Designing feed roller assemblies that are up to the job is not just a question of choosing the right material, it is also important to find the right roller shape, as the roller must exert some force onto the card or ticket, and cope with dust and sweat on the surfaces. Feed rollers are usually positioned at an opening in the kiosk frame. There they are exposed to light, temperature and humidity variations, which may reduce the longevity of the rollers and interfere with the feeding process.
 
There is no need to be worried by those challenges, though. We are working closely with OEMs and rubber compounders to develop and test rollers that are up to the job. The most recent development has been Drego Grip rollers. Made of synthetic rubber, they show a superior resistance against light, ozone and chemicals compared to natural rubber. Due to their softness, their grip on paper and plastic is very high and they cope well with dust and sweat.
