With self-service solutions becoming a key feature of everyday life and as research suggests their usage to be increasing it comes as no surprise that we are seeing a wider range, size and variety of kiosk designs. In particular, with the emergence of more compact, sophisticated and challenging designs the need for flexible kiosk printing solutions is heightened, particularly given that the printer is often one of the last components to be installed in a kiosk.

The Automatic A4 to virtual A6 Scalable Tool developed by Star, available with its TSP800II packaged printer and TUP992 open frame printer, is a perfect solution for Internet or product detail printouts. Small and compact, the TSP800II packaged printer is a versatile 180mm/second barcode, label, receipt and ticket printer with a unique 104mm print width on paper stock up to 150g/m2. By replacing an A4 laser printer with the TSP800II, the cost savings in terms of consumable costs that can be achieved as well as the environmental benefits through reduced CO2 emissions and reduced power consumption are highlighted below.
 
According to Star, the TSP800II costs 80% less to run, consumes 82% less power, and emits 82% less CO2 than an industry standard A4 laser printer.
 
Beyond these savings, the TSP800II has a larger print capacity between consumable changes and with a first page out time of less than one second compared with an average of 22 seconds for a typical laser printer, speed is certainly not compromised.
