Simple Biometric Payment
Nice Touch
The Pay By Touch system uses a simple method of finger-imaging, making it both secure and highly convenient. The consumer uses their finger to identify themselves and in doing so, a payment is made directly from their bank account. Retailers that have loyalty programmes are able to link these into the process, removing the need for customers to carry a loyalty card.
The Pay By Touch finger-scanning technology does not store actual fingerprints; instead it creates a set of geometric points that allow for a secure identity match at point-of-sale. These geometric points cannot be used to re-create a fingerprint. Pay By Touch has been running in the US for four years and is now available at over 2,000 retail locations, where more than 2.3 million shoppers use the service. The Midcounties Co-op was the first retailer in the UK to implement the service, but Pay By Touch is receiving interest from many large retailers across Europe.
