Samsung charging
Samsung Mobile has designed a new mobile charging station for deployment in airports, so that travellers can charge their electronic devices before they board their flight. The first installation of the new units was in all of the terminals at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The new charging stations are equipped with a variety of features, including six electrical outlets compatible for U.S. voltage (120 volts), two USB charging outlets, and four micro USB mobile phone charging plugs.

Any mobile electronic devices can be charged using the station, from mobile phones to laptops. The service is free of charge [no pun intended – Ed].

While a user’s device is charging, they can use the touchscreen monitor to catch up on the latest news, check the weather at their destination, play games, check flight status, and use the “What’s New” tab to learn about the latest products from Samsung.

Twenty newly designed charging stations will debut at Ronald Regan Washington National Airport (DCA). JCDecaux manages the advertising concession at DCA and partnered with Samsung to implement the redesigned charging stations.

"Samsung Mobile is excited to bring twenty new mobile charging stations to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Mobile . "Travellers rely on their mobile devices everyday to stay connected to work and their family. The redesigned charging stations offer travelers a variety of new features to ensure they stay connected on-the-road."

"We are pleased to expand Samsung Mobile’s charging stations to greater numbers of air travelers," said Jean-Luc Decaux, Co-CEO of JCDecaux NA. "It's consistent with our dedication to delivering the highest quality out-of-home advertising solutions combined with first-class public services."

The company has installed more than 421 charging stations in twelve of America’s busiest airports. 83 charging stations have also been installed at twenty of the nation’s largest college campuses, along with six charging stations at The Las Vegas Convention Center and five charging stations at The Mall of America in Minneapolis, MN.

At the moment, the charging stations are only available in the USA.
