vodafone 360 touch table kiosk europe
Over 60 flagship Vodafone stores across seven European countries are deploying Microsoft Surface in-store to promote their 360 offering. Customers in Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the UK can now engage with Vodafone through the multi-touch table to explore the company’s services and features.

The touch tables were installed to support the retail activities for the Vodafone 360 services, which were launched in autumn last year. Customers can gain access to information on the range of devices that offer this service, as well as experience the benefits of the services. The Microsoft Surface project is being extended in some of the countries to support the retail experience with more handsets in-store. The fact that some of these markets are extending the project to be able to access more of the handsets in-store via the touch table demonstrates the success of the project and the positive way in which it has been accepted by staff and customers alike.

Vodafone 360 Microsoft surface table
Vodafone 360 is a suite of internet services for mobile and PC. The Surface brings together customers as a group of friends or family to explore the entertainment possibilities, such as music, games, photos and video, in an integrated mobile internet experience. The handsets which can be engaged with via the Surface have bar codes on the back of the phones. When placed on the screen, this brings up technical specifications about the handset – which operating system it runs on, processor speed, screen size, etc. – as well as information on the services available on the phone. Various devices can also be compared side by side to assist in the decision-making process.

The application, the result of a close collaboration between Vodafone and Microsoft Consulting Services, is designed to enhance Vodafone’s assisted sales scenario with a custom retail application.

The application includes a video introduction to the Vodafone 360 experience and an interactive tour of the service’s features and capabilities. When Vodafone 360 mobile devices, shown in the store, are placed on the screen, additional content is brought up that lets the customer compare and contrast features and price plans. In this way, the multi-touch table replaces traditional paper brochures, but still enables customers to engage with content by turning pages. Offers can be compared more easily without staff assistance but, at the same time, staff can use the table as a sales tool to deliver a more engaging retail experience to their customers while still interacting face-to-face.

The latest product information is updated to the Surface from a central location within each country.
