Magtek showcased its range of card readers and mobile payment solutions at KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2011.
 
The MagneSafe I-65 manual insertion style Secure Card Reader Authenticator (SCRA) was designed for fast and reliable reading of magstripe and smart card data on cards. The unit can withstand a wide range of operational and environmental conditions. Developers state that it is an ideal solution for ATM, vending machine, and self-service kiosk applications.
 
An optional card latch feature allows the card to be securely held within the reader during the entire transaction process, and reduces the possibility of unwanted human intervention during card read operations. Power-fail card-latch release and manual override features are available to ensure that a customer’s card can be retrieved under any condition.
 
The company also showcased the iDynamo, its SCRA designed to work with Apple’s iOS products. This product offers MagneSafe security and delivers open standards encryption with DUKPT key management, immediate tokenisation of card data and MagnePrint card authentication to maximise data protection and prevent the use of counterfeit cards.
 
The product is designed to allow mobile merchants to leverage the power of their iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPad and iPod touch products without the worries of handling or storing sensitive card data.
 
Finally, the company has also developed an equivalent SCRA product for secure Bluetooth communications with PC, android mobile or mobile phones supporting Bluetooth.
 
The BulleT encrypts card data from the moment the card is swiped, and also enables card authentication to immediately detect counterfeit or altered cards. The product was designed to leverage the existing magnetic stripe card as a secure token to ensure transactions are protected any time.
 
The presence of these products at KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2011 is clear evidence that mobile interactivity and mobile payments are becoming a more and more important addition to technology-assisted shopping and POS customer interaction.
