Star printer with speech functionality

A voice function offers the opportunity to deliver interactive voice messages without additional software costs.

The printer features a drawer-style front-loading system that offers true ‘Drop-In & Print’ paper loading. This makes it ideal for kiosk applications that demand a printer design that is not only compact but also facilitates paper roll changes, as well as ease of installation, into the most economic kiosk designs. The mountable shelf attachment provides a strong base to install the printer within the kiosk, while the simplicity of just plugging in the power and interface cable makes it easy and economical to design in.This simplicity is further enhanced by the fact that the paper can be loaded by any member of staff.

The voice function available with the printer offers the opportunity to deliver interactive voice messages without additional software costs for the user. With up to 255 voice commands, the audio can be streamed directly from the PC using the Star Sound Tool. There is a default library of voice commands, but more can easily be recorded in any language.

The printer also presents several ways to save paper and reduce costs: Simple line manipulation allows the length of a receipt to be reduced by up to 25% without reducing the font size. And automatic software allows the user to reduce receipts from the standard 80mm width by up to 67% horizontally and 50% vertically so that a receipt can be printed on 58mm paper, while at the same time adjusting length.

The company concludes that its new printer offers the very latest in POS printer design alongside a wealth of software features to provide a unique and unrivalled kiosk printing solution.
