Identifying innovative solutions for tomorrow’s processes and discovering common perspectives, Wincor World 2008 offered visitors a global overview of the holistic solutions that banks and retail companies need to set their business on course for a successful future. As a cross-border platform for information, Wincor World bundled the portfolios of nearly 70 exhibitors from around the world and presented them to its attendees across 7000 square metres of exhibition space.

Wincor World has become a key source of orientation for decision makers from financial institutions, retailers, and companies of all kinds that depend on branch or store structures for their success. At the 2008 event, IT concepts were presented with all the components – hardware, software, consulting and services – making up end-to-end solutions to help businesses optimise their processes, reduce costs and complexity and improve service to their customers.
 
Meanwhile, at the redesigned forum at the core of Wincor World, presentations and workshops featuring experts and practitioners offered visitors the opportunity to gain practical knowledge for their daily business. The podium discussions provided concentrated knowledge on topics such as IT security in retail banking and new checkout technologies in retail.
 
For the financial sector, Wincor Nixdorf presented its holistic solutions for optimising processes at retail banks and in other industries. Cash management forms a core part of process optimisation, and Wincor World showed solutions to ensure that all means of payment, including banknotes, checks, documents and coins, are managed effectively, ensuring a transparent cash flow within the branch.
 
Wincor World brought together the key issues of automation, self-service, and consumer technology under the rubric ‘Retail Horizons - From Store to Enterprise’. The ‘shopping mall’ featured modular solutions for different store types, from new checkout variants and retail cash management solutions to central store management. Mobile solutions for stores and consumers, reverse vending systems, visual merchandising solutions and kiosk systems for customer information and an expanded service offer were also on show.

Usability Workshop @ KEX 2012

What can self-service terminals learn from the success of the iPad? The Usability Expert Workshop will explore ways of developing self-service solutions capable of inspiring the same fanatical reaction as Apple’s iconic product. On the 7th of March this year, hundreds of people were out on the streets, waiting to be amongst the first to get their hands on the latest iPad iteration. They had camped out all night with their thermoses in the freezing cold. Why are so many people willing to do this in front of every Apple store, but not for a new check-in terminal at the airport, train station, or shopping mall? What’s behind the buzz, and how can we encourage a similar reaction to self-service solutions? Through expert contributions and together with you, we will seek to answer these questions and explore future ways to get there.
