A Touching Tribute
Multi-touch technology at KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2011
OmniTapps is a new multi-touch software suite designed to enrich presentations, meetings or brainstorming sessions. The suite was developed by OmniVision, which specialises in creating touch applications.
The company believes its product is significant because of the potential it creates for cooperation and interaction. Multiple people can work together at the same time on an OmniTapps application. And the software is can be customised so it displays a company’s corporate identity.
The number of applications is growing , offering various possibilities to entertain, teach and inform a range of audiences.
The software allows presentations, websites, images, movies and PDF documents to be scaled, edited or played using multitouch gestures on the screen. Documents, images or diagrams, such as building plans, can be annotated and re-saved, to be displayed on a video wall. The software also supports flash content, and can be operated simultaneously by multiple users.
Mulit-touch games can also be deployed using the software. The standard package comes with a number of games which can be used to attract attention, generate traffic and collect information from visitors. Multi-touch games give companies the opportunity to present their products in a unique way through interaction with the audience.

Usability Workshop @ KEX 2012
What can self-service terminals learn from the success of the iPad? The Usability Expert Workshop will explore ways of developing self-service solutions capable of inspiring the same fanatical reaction as Apple’s iconic product. On the 7th of March this year, hundreds of people were out on the streets, waiting to be amongst the first to get their hands on the latest iPad iteration. They had camped out all night with their thermoses in the freezing cold. Why are so many people willing to do this in front of every Apple store, but not for a new check-in terminal at the airport, train station, or shopping mall? What’s behind the buzz, and how can we encourage a similar reaction to self-service solutions? Through expert contributions and together with you, we will seek to answer these questions and explore future ways to get there. KIOSK EUROPE and Handspiel will present the Usability Expert Workshop as part of KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2012, which runs from 12-13 June. The Usability Workshop will take place on Wednesday, 13th June from 10:30-13:30. Numbers are limited, so secure your place now by booking online at www.kioskeurope-expo.com
