Almex ticketing kiosk
With assistance from Almex, the public transport operator TPG (“Transports Publics Genevois”) of Geneva will rely on solar energy to power ticketing kiosks.

From the year 2010, 720 stationary ticket vending terminals will be set up at federal Swiss bus and tram stations. The power for 200 of these devices will be fully supplied in the form of electricity generated by integrated photovoltaic modules.

This makes them independent of the electricity supply grid and also saves money when installing the terminals, especially in remote regions, since no power supply needs to be installed. At the same time, it is environmentally compatible since no electricity is drawn from power stations, making it possible to lower CO2 emissions.
