Rosendahl's Kiosks Range
Open-Minded
Rosendahl provides indoor and outdoor kiosks for the self-service market.
The Rosendahl family have for many years been working within the sign market, using aluminium profiles as their master product. In 2003 they decided to use their experience in design and materials to enter the kiosk marketplace, with the target of creating a terminal which, in terms of quality and design, should be at the very high end of the market. The end result was three high-spec kiosks called the FlexiMidi, FlexiMaxi and TableTop, which went on sale through partners and resellers in Europe and the USA. The figures were encouraging and so, a couple of years later, a 17” outdoor kiosk was added to the Rosendahl product range, together with an adjustable, handicap-friendly kiosk called the FlexiAdjust. This was followed up by units within digital signage, up to 57” named FlexiMega. At that time, the outdoor kiosk was a minor revolution in the market and Rosendahl became a leader in the outdoor segment.
The whole product range was now complete, and the market showed that Rosendahl was becoming an active player in the kiosk market, indoor as well as outdoor. The company began to grow rapidly and the sign business, once the main focus of activities, was now of second priority to the company.
In 2007, it was time to combine the experience and knowledge gained into a new product range, focusing not only on design and quality, but also seriously thinking about how important it is to be able to service the individual kiosk – especially on kiosks requiring build-in of various components like printers, scanners, card readers, etc., which is an increasing part of the kiosk market. The aim was to make kiosks with front opening, meaning that the whole front door of the kiosk could open, giving easy access to the contents, which would be the ideal solution for all parties. And, with reference to design and finish, one more goal was to make as much material in anodized aluminium as possible, whilst also trying to minimize the weight and associated freight costs.
On top of all this, the digital signage programme also needed to be refurbished, in order to create a line of competitive, slim-profile products with a high finish to meet the requirement of this growing market. At KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2008 in Essen, Rosendahl was ready to introduce a brand new kiosk and digital signage line-up, including, amongst others, new FlexiOutdoor (17” and 19”), FlexiMaxi and FlexiWall terminals, all with front opening and made with a new developed anodized aluminium profile. On the DS side, a range of new products in a special anodized aluminium profile was shown, including the eye-catching double 40” FlexiMega in portrait mode.
Since the Expo, the feedback from the market has been much better than expected and, besides having a competitive product, this has shown the company that design, quality and easy access for servicing are the three most important factors for a kiosk.
After two years testing of big outdoor projects, the next step for the Rosendahl Company is to develop a major outdoor offering, taking into consideration all the parameters mentioned above. If everything goes as expected, this unit will be presented at KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2009.
