Source Technologies
Source Technologies has announced its emergence into the thermal barcode printer market. The STp.1120n, a new mid-range printer, is the first model in the new ST Performance Series.

Believing that the well-established AIDC printing industry has not seen anything in the way of true advancement in years, the team of experts at Source Technologies set out to design something new, aiming to put their product in a class of its own.

The ST Performance Series represents a new generation of intelligent barcode printers designed with the user and application in mind.

“Because we had no preconceived mandates as to what the printer line had to be, we were able to produce a product with unique benefits that integrates seamlessly into the most widely used printer language, PCL5e,” explained William Bouverie, President and CEO. “Before designing the Performance Series we conducted extensive research. Our team reached out to customers and thermal printer users worldwide, asking them about their industrial, mid-range barcode printing requirements. We listened to their input, and incorporated the most important elements into our printer design. The result is a product that is easy to use, easy to integrate, produces unparalleled print quality and is built to perform in the harshest environments.”

The ST Performance Series Features include: PCL5e for plug-and-play integration, colour graphic touchscreen, 300dpi for rich graphics, barcodes and text, constant ribbon tension to prevent ribbon wrinkle, a wide array of connectivity choices, field upgradable options, and an RFID option.

With PCL5e, an industry standard printer language, there are no integration difficulties caused by proprietary languages. PCL allows the printer to support 50 resident scalable fonts.

Usability Workshop @ KEX 2012

Handspiel
What can self-service terminals learn from the success of the iPad? The Usability Expert Workshop will explore ways of developing self-service solutions capable of inspiring the same fanatical reaction as Apple’s iconic product. On the 7th of March this year, hundreds of people were out on the streets, waiting to be amongst the first to get their hands on the latest iPad iteration. They had camped out all night with their thermoses in the freezing cold. Why are so many people willing to do this in front of every Apple store, but not for a new check-in terminal at the airport, train station, or shopping mall? What’s behind the buzz, and how can we encourage a similar reaction to self-service solutions? Through expert contributions and together with you, we will seek to answer these questions and explore future ways to get there. KIOSK EUROPE and Handspiel will present the Usability Expert Workshop as part of KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2012, which runs from 12-13 June. The Usability Workshop will take place on Wednesday, 13th June from 10:30-13:30. Numbers are limited, so secure your place now by booking online at www.kioskeurope-expo.com
