NCR Appoints Europe MD
NCR Promotes Canadian MD Luc Villeneuve
NCR has just announced the promotion of Luc Villeneuve to managing director of Europe.
Reporting to Peter Leav, senior vice president, global sales, Villeneuve plans to extend NCR’s partnership approach with businesses, providing consultancy and solutions that help deliver an exceptional consumer experience through a seamless combination of personalized online, mobile and physical self-service channels.
Consumers already carry out 250 million transactions every day globally using the company’s ATMs in financial services, self-checkouts in retail, mobile and kiosk self check-in solutions in travel and patient self check-in solutions in healthcare. And with 75% of its revenues coming from international markets, NCR is targeting growth across Europe in developed Western Europe and the emerging markets of Russia, Turkey and Eastern Europe.
While Europe is experiencing divergent growth across its economies, there is a common desire by consumers to be able to bank, shop, travel and manage their healthcare in the locations based on convenience and their preferences according to Villeneuve.
“In more developed markets, the consumers’ self-service experience is helping to increase loyalty, productivity and revenue levels for business,” said Villeneuve. “In emerging markets there’s an opportunity to install the self-service infrastructure to reach and engage more consumers. My focus is to build on NCR’s leadership position in Europe by tightly aligning our regional R&D, manufacturing, services and channel strategies with needs of our customers across the market.”
Villeneuve is bilingual and will be based in Paris, signalling NCR’s renewed investment in the French market, particularly in the retail market. He will work across the 10 countries in which NCR has a direct presence regionally and a further 30 through distributors and channel partners. Villeneuve will also liaise closely with two of NCR’s R&D global centres, based in Europe, including its mobile centre of excellence in Edinburgh and multi-industry, multichannel centre in Dundee.
An accomplished information technology professional with over 25 years of experience, Villeneuve previously headed up NCR Canada. Prior to this, he spent five years at Sun Microsystems Canada as the Vice President of Sales and has held senior sales and marketing positions at BCE, GE Capital ITS and CNC Global Limited. Villeneuve holds a Business Administration Degree from Algonquin College.

Usability Workshop @ KEX 2012
What can self-service terminals learn from the success of the iPad? The Usability Expert Workshop will explore ways of developing self-service solutions capable of inspiring the same fanatical reaction as Apple’s iconic product. On the 7th of March this year, hundreds of people were out on the streets, waiting to be amongst the first to get their hands on the latest iPad iteration. They had camped out all night with their thermoses in the freezing cold. Why are so many people willing to do this in front of every Apple store, but not for a new check-in terminal at the airport, train station, or shopping mall? What’s behind the buzz, and how can we encourage a similar reaction to self-service solutions? Through expert contributions and together with you, we will seek to answer these questions and explore future ways to get there. KIOSK EUROPE and Handspiel will present the Usability Expert Workshop as part of KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2012, which runs from 12-13 June. The Usability Workshop will take place on Wednesday, 13th June from 10:30-13:30. Numbers are limited, so secure your place now by booking online at www.kioskeurope-expo.com
