Innovative Technology's Smart Way
Get Smart
Developing the Smart Way, various issues had to be overcome to bring the products to market. In the past, companies requiring coin payout had two options: a hopper or a change giver. But the marketplace required a large volume device with a fast payout rate that was also capable of paying out coins in different denominations.
This gap in the market formed the basis of the Smart Hopper concept. Work began in 2001 and advances in micro-processing technology over the years since has enabled the desired speed and reliability of coin sensing to be achieved. The Smart Hopper, which reaches speeds of up to 12 coins per second from up to 11 denominations, was released in July 2009.
Innovative Technology investigated payout technology in the marketplace during 2008, and found that various note recycler units were entering the marketplace. However, they felt that note storage capability was low and only a limited number of denominations could be dispensed. Therefore, they designed a unit capable of storing a larger number of notes and paying out mixed denomination notes, from a given currency. A modular add-on unit for the NV200 note validator was created to allow all notes accepted by the validator to be paid out.
The particular challenge in this instance was to work out how to store and pay out mixed notes. The development team had to work on a specific space design to allow the payout unit to fit the depth of the NV200 validator as an add-on module. Launched in August 2009, the Smart payout offers a storage capacity of 80 mixed denomination notes.
As an extension to the company’s note validator range, the NV200 enabled the company to move into high volume, high security applications. The NV200 is designed with triple lock security and a 500-note cashbox, and can stack notes in just three seconds.
When the NV200 was originally designed in 2007, it was created with the Smart payout unit in mind, and so was engineered with an internal note diverter at the rear of the validator, but with the mechanism disabled.
The NV200 has been well received by the market since it was launched and has received praise from the European Central Bank (ECB) for its ability to recognise Euro Note counterfeits.
The Smart Way combines the Smart Hopper, Smart Payout and NV200 to create one complete system offering note in, note out and coin out for any machine.
