West International's new multi-function kiosk.

Leading international distributor West International has recently developed a multi-functional self-service modular kiosk which provides the possibility to download books, music or radio to different types of flash memories, MP3 players, iPod and mobile phones. Users can also purchase event tickets, pay household utility bills, and give charity donations, etc. The terminal has been designed to be used in a range of different locations including retail outlets, cinemas, libraries, petrol stations, airports and railway stations. Its ease of use is highlighted by the fact that users are able to search, download content and make payment at the terminal with no assistance required. The kiosk is equipped with the very latest technology, including the TSP700II thermal receipt printer from leading international printer manufacturer Star Micronics. In addition to its unique versatility in terms of its multi-functional ability to print receipts, barcodes, labels and tickets, the TSP700II is capable of printing at a remarkable 250mm/second. A further key feature of this printer is its Advanced Configuration utility encompassing both simple graphic & interface management. The resident Ethernet set-up facility and Virtual Serial Port lend themselves to any kiosk application while the graphic management tools complete the development package.

The advanced software used for the kiosk has been supplied by AudioBox, a company that works with a number of publishers who represent almost 95% of the total Audio Book market in Sweden. The sheer versatility of this kiosk is demonstrated by a design that lends itself to a range of different applications including the ability to run commercial adverts and display book covers. With the added possibility of integrating the TSP800 printer from Star Micronics, with its wide print capability and automatic scalable raster driver for A4 reduction to virtual A6, the unit will also be able to provide detailed information on local attractions and events.
