Wincor World retail checkout concept
Wincor World 2010 has opened its doors on all things self-service, with a special focus on cash management, cashless payment solutions, updated software platforms and new worldwide service options.

The banner at the entrance welcomes visitors to the cash revolution, followed up by an extensive cash management area positioned at the heart of the event. Offering an end-to-end solution incorporating hardware, software and services for cash management, the time- and money-consuming processes involved in the cash cycle are addressed at Wincor World 2010, both on the floor and in talks held alongside the event. Their concept not only provides closed cash cycles at stores, but also integrates the cash centre and the chain between retailers and banks.

Eckard Heidloff, President and CEO, of Wincor Nixdorf, commented at the opening, "Nine out of ten payment transactions worldwide are made with cash. Our estimates show that this creates more than 300 billion dollars in costs, primarily for banks and retail businesses."

Wincor Nixdorf's cash cycle management solutions automate processes from cash handling at the POS, through intelligent coin and banknote solutions, to the cash office and transportation. The need to handle cash manually is thus being elimiated throughout the chain, which delivers a higher level of security.

A new and intelligent banknote storage concept also enables banknotes accepted at retail stores to be dispensed at ATMs, since the same storage media are used in retailing and banking. In the future, cash centres, bank branches and retail stores will all be integrated into the cycle. One of the core focuses of cash management is the automated filling and emptying of cash cassettes in the cash centre's sorting systems to enable cross-sector cash cycle management.

Cost reductions through the use of better cash management solutions are estimated at more than 20%.
