Access All Areas

Swecoin, a Zebra Technologies Company and leading manufacturer of kiosk and ticketing solutions, has reinforced their easy maintenance concept within their latest generation of printers. Simply by unscrewing a maximum of four screws, users can gain full access to exchange all critical parts. This simple operation cuts the time and effort for service and maintenance and makes sure the kiosk is back in full functionality in the shortest possible time.

"Every service call is a call too much," says Swecoin Technical Support Manager, Staffan Fällström, "and that is the credo we designed into our latest printer series. Swecoin kiosk printers require no consumables and no scheduled preventive maintenance. Just replace the paper when you see the paper-low alert, and it just continues to run. Long-term robust functionality and reliability is the key, as it is costly every time a technician has to be sent out - this is a well-known truth in the kiosk environment. With our latest design we went a step further, focusing on making the maintenance and spare parts exchange easier than ever before. This resulted in the fact that repair can now be done in a matter of minutes with little or no tools."

As no expertise is needed, simple spare parts replacement can be handled on-site by the closest person to hand, without having an expensive specialist sent out every time. The savings on direct cost are, of course, considerable, but most importantly down time is always kept to a minmum.

Exchanging paper is child’s play, thanks to the flip-up print head and full auto paper load, but the new design also gives easy access to key parts of the printer, such as printhead, cutter, control board, etc. For example, just two screws need to be removed for access to the thermal printhead and four screws for the cutter blade. All parts are available as spares, so there is no need to exchange an entire expensive module when only a small part is worn. Swecoin commits to supply spares even after the product is taken out of production for at least five years.

This total cost of ownership approach is a crucial part of Swecoin printer design. All Swecoin printers are equipped with thermal printhead, cutter and looping presenter to maximise stability in performance and avoid paper jams.
