The 40 Kiosk Shop is on the Way
The purpose of this year´s event was to highlight the opportunities in the imaging market at this time. The prospects for photo-services, concentrating on photobooks were analysed.
Don Franz, editor and publisher of US-based Photo-Imaging News was optimistic about the future of photobooks. Based based on Photo-Imaging News research he predicted that the number of photobooks produced will have risen from an effective start of a million in 2003 to 129 million in 2012.
Franz also predicts astonishing growth in the area of personalised photogifts partly as a result of new technologies, including double-sided printing systems. The market for personalised photo products is expected to grow from $238 million back in 2003 to $5.6 billion in 2012.
Finally, Franz discussed kiosks, as he stated that it is increasingly recognized that the more kiosks a retail outlet has, the longer people are likely to sit at them and the more they are likely to spend. Shops with 20 kiosks are already quite common in Australia and the 40-kiosk shop is now appearing over the horizon.
